L'Oreal makeup by Lena Talks Beauty

L’Oréal is a brand that I cut my makeup teeth on, so to speak. I remember I always used to try on L’Oréal products while waiting for prescriptions at the pharmacy, or at department stores. Then I got a bit older, and began to buy my own makeup and primarily bought  “drugstore” brands with a lot from L’Oréal.  Then I got even older and started earning more, spending more, and became a blogger and before long I stopped frequenting the self select makeup stands. So it has been fun for me to try these products and revisit what I liked about L’Oréal.

A little while ago I attended an event hosted by L’Oréal for bloggers and other beauty media to try some of their latest releases. You may have seen previews of this on my Instagram, and now I’ve finally written a blog post about the products I received at that event.

L’Oréal Color Riche Les Ombres eyeshadow

This quad – Smoky Eyes Eau De Rose – has nice colour combinations and it managed to be pretty versatile over the period that I was using it non stop. It includes a sponge applicator but I didn’t use it because I have brushes. I sometimes wonder why brands bother to include little sponges, brushes, and those sorts of tools with makeup, because none of my friends use them, and then I see my mum doing makeup and all she uses are the included tools and her hands. Not everyone are makeup hoarders like me! The eyeshadows applied well, even without a primer or anything underneath it (because they were all packed!)

L’Oréal True Match Illuminator Powder

I’m sorry to say this little trio was a bit of a disappointment. It’s not terribly pigmented and I prefer more shimmer in a highlighter. I’m also not entirely sure what to do with the dark shade – contour? Bronzer? I was scared of looking too muddy or just weird, so I mostly left it well alone.

L’Oréal Brow Artist Maker

When I first opened this, I was a bit confused by the design. It’s like a crayon on one end, and has a little brush on the other end. Using a crayon feels weird for brows, since I’m used to using a more fine pencil but I rolled with it. The brush on the opposite end, I really never figured out how to use. I either used the crayon as-is or used a spoolie brush to smooth out my brows. The colour that I used is 01 Blonde and it matched my brows nicely, which is something I find tricky since dying my hair ombré blonde.

L’Oréal Volume Million Lashes Mascara

I really liked this mascara – I think it is my favourite of this bunch of products. The brush reminds me of Benefit They’re Real mascara, with the rubbery bristles. It separates lashes as well as extending them to make my eye really pop. One important consideration for me is ease of removal, I don’t want to be scrubbing away at my lashes, and this came off easily with Garnier Micellar water.

L’Oréal Color Riche Exclusive Nudes lipstick

This lipstick is from a collection which is made in collaboration with several of L’Oréal’s celebrity ambassadors, and this one is from Jennifer Lopez. I have pretty different colouring to J Lo yet her nude works as a very natural colour for me. It has nice and creamy texture, but accordingly it’s not very long lasting. I don’t really remind reapplying lipstick regularly though, because I am a chronic lip-licker mine never last long.
