Bossy Brush Cleansing Kit

Monday, November 10th 2014 Uncategorised

I’ll be honest with you readers, and say that I wash my makeup brushes less frequently than I should. It’s such a hassle, and I’m inherently a bit lazy. I was overdue for a brush cleaning session, and then Bossy Cosmetics sent me their Brush Cleansing Kit*, and the novelty of a new product outweighed my laziness. The Bossy Makeup Brush Cleansing Kit contains a silicone brush cleansing pad and a brush shampoo, and it promises to be a quick easy way to clean makeup brushes, which was very appealing to me.

Bossy Brush cleansing pad and brush shampoo

To use, first you wet your brush and pump some of the brush shampoo onto the cleansing side of the pad. The instructions say to hold the pad, but it has a suction cup at the back so I stuck it to my sink. Work the brush into the textured pad, and you’ll see all the accumulated makeup gunk washing away and your brush returning to it’s original colour. I found that this made the process much quicker than rubbing it endlessly against my hand like I usually would. To rinse, rub the brush over the rippled rinsing side of the pad under warm water, and your brush will be perfectly clean.

The brush shampoo is incredible. I often have to resort to dishwashing liquid to fully remove my MAC Studio Sculpt foundation from my XO Beauty flat top brush, but this got it all out. The shampoo is much more gentle but it’s just as effective. It’s lightly scented with vanilla and coconut, which is nice. It’s antibacterial, so it leaves my brushes free of any bacteria which could cause me to break out.

Here’s how I dry my brushes – I roll up a hand towel and prop them up to dry. It’s a bit difficult with double ended brushes, but I just gently squeeze the end which will be pointing up with a towel and hope that doesn’t get damaged from having water in the handle. I also propped up the cleansing pad and it dried very quickly.

I would recommend buying this. At first I expected it to be a bit of a gimmick, but it makes cleaning brushes so much less annoying, and kind of fun with the cleansing pad (I wonder if the novelty will wear off for me though). The brush shampoo is amazing, it gets everything out of my brushes in a way that I didn’t know was possible. I won’t go as far as saying it’s totally essential, but it’s a great optional extra.

The Brush Cleansing Kit is available exclusively from Bossy Cosmetics, and is $29.95.

I will try to find it!!

    • I saw on twitter it’s on sale for $25 so it’s a good chance to pick one up for a bit less 🙂 Thanks for commenting.

This looks like a great little kit, I just use baby shampoo to clean mine and it does a fairly decent job x

  • I literally love the sound of this! 🙂
I would definitely buy one as I’m quite lazy when it comes to the regular cleaning of my brushes!

  • A great kit and so much cheaper than the whole Sigma shbam. Good to know there’s good alternatives out there!!

This is a great idea and could come in handy, I’m currently using a giant plastic oven glove which works a treat but something of this size could come in handy x

  • Seems like a super cool brush cleansing tool. Thanks for sharing 🙂

You can get small heart shaped ones from Daiso and other asian stores for around $3! That’s what I use and it works really well!

  • The Made Up Maiden

I love the look of this…though I’ve never really known if it was just a gimmick or if it REALLY did cut the washing time in half!
I currently swirl my brushes on a Dove beauty bar to clean, which works a treat, plus they end up smelling gorgeous after. 🙂
